Planning Permission Granted
The half-time announcement at last night's FA Cup replay that the Planning Application for the redevelopment of parts of Underhill had been given the green light by Barnet Council was greeted with extreme satisfaction by the Supporters Association Committee.
Having seen the time and effort put in by the Club to try to ensure that Underhill meets the Football League's deadline for ground criteria, we are pleased that the application has finally been successful.
As is evident to those who have visited Underhill in the past week, the old temporary South Stand has already been demolished and work can begin today on building the new South Stand to meet the minimum requirement of covered seats. These plans also allow the Club to develop in stages covered seating areas for away fans, and improve the floodlighting at Underhill, which is also a Football League requirement.
The Supporters Association still back the Club's vision for a new stadium that goes far beyond the 'minimum standards' seen at Underhill, where the club can offer fans an improved matchday experience with better facilities, as well as the chance for the Club to raise additional income from off-field activities. The Council's decision gives Barnet FC a secure home for the foreseeable future, and allows the Club to grow. With a League standard ground, a new training facility in development, an ever-improving team and another 3rd round FA Cup tie, the future's Bright, the future's Amber.
Come on you Bees!
