John "Village" Atkins Finally Collects the Lester Finch Award

Sam Norris

This years Supporters Association AGM finally gave an opportunity for the committee to present this years Lester Finch Award to John Atkins.

John, better known to most Barnet fans as Village, received the award on the back of years of service, both to Barnet Football Club, where his official post is as Overseas Liaison Officer, and to the Supporters Association, where he is now an integral member of the committee.

Village has travelled all over the world, mainly to visit Barnet's sister club Ivera in Italy, spreading the word on all things Barnet, which incidentally, was the reason he was not available to collect the award at the player of the year awards back in May. When he is not off gallivanting, Village can be found outside the Westcombe Drive entrance to the East and North Stands where he sells programmes, and displays a multitude of overseas related merchandise he has collected on his travels.

More recently, Village has taken a key role in the Supporters Associations International Day, which he promises, this year, will be even bigger than last, where Village even made a last minute cameo appearance in the match between the FCBFCSA and the international fans XI.

Well done Village, thoroughly well deserved.
